21 Savage sets release date for new album
21 Savage will drop his sophomore album ‘I Am > I Was Out’ on Dec. 21 via Slaughter Gang/Epic Records, just in time for Christmas.
Actually, the Atlanta hip-hop artist tweeted “12-7-18” back in November, which led to speculation that the album would be released on that date. However, 21 Savage later stated in his Instagram story that he was “sorry” because he “forgot” to release the album, and said it would be released on December 21.
According to a followup statement from his record company, the new set represents “another evolution” in his recording career. “His razor sharp flows, clever ad-libs, smooth delivery, big screen-ready lyriocs, and incisive hooks cut deeper than ever before. At the same time, he gets more personal and, as a result, more powerful,” it reads.
‘I Am > I Was Out’ is the followup to 2017’s ‘Issa’, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. To celebrate the new release, the rapper is promoting a new collection of branded apparel on his official online store and at an official one-day pop-up, to be held this Sunday (Dec. 16) at DOM Gallery in Los Angeles.
Dropping album merch to accompany a new LP release is pretty much expected nowadays in the realm of Hip-Hop. 21 Savage is giving us a whole capsule collection to coincide with his highly-anticipated sophomore solo album ‘I Am > I Was’ arriving next week.
