‘American Idol’ alum David Hernandez releases ‘Shield (Coat Of Armor)’
The twelfth place finalist of FOX’s seventh season of American Idol David Hernandez has released his new single “Shield (Coat of Armor),” inspired by a USO tour in the Middle East.
Hernandez’s new single was released on Tuesday (Feb. 13), just in time for Valentine’s Day, since it is a song about love and acceptance. Hernandez is not afraid to show his fragile and soft side, as well as his vulnerability as a recording artist.
The singer told Billboard that he wrote this track in a session with his producer Eddie Wohl and Daniel Braunstein:
“I thought it was so incredible to shake hands with the people that make everything possible for us,” he said, “It got me thinking about all of the ways we as a human race should stand by each other and raise one another up.”
“We all go through tough times and need someone to be our ‘shield’ to protect us or a shoulder to lean on, no matter what kind of dark place we might be in,” he added.
