Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson, engagement called off
Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have split up. It was TMZ to have the exclusive on Sunday (Oct.14), stating that the pair were “dunzo as a couple.”
Nobody could believe it. Did it really mean that their story was over? The outlet said it was a case of “both parties acknowledging that it simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off.”
The next day (Oct. 15), TMZ reported that the recent death of Mac Miller, Grande’s ex-boyfriend, instigated the breakup: “In the aftermath of Mac’s death, our sources say Ariana realized a couple of things—she couldn’t be fully invested in her relationship with Pete, and she had rushed into a looming marriage way too fast by getting engaged.”
The couple got engaged in June and even got matching tattoos to finalize their relationship. Suddenly the two hit a life-changing fork in the road last month when Mac Miller died, and it seems his death was the tipping point that led to their split.
Neither of them have addressed the split directly, but Ariana did just take to social media for the first time since the news broke.
Ahead of her performance in the live performance of the musical Wicked, called A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway, the singer tweeted this picture of what looks like her script. Based on who sings this song in the actual musical, it looks she’s playing the character of Elphaba.
In the tweet, she said that she “wouldn’t miss it for the world,” which could be a reference to Pete and their split.
