Avicii dead at 28: here’s his ex-girlfriend’s touching tribute
Broken Arrows hitmaker Avicii died on April 20 near Muscat, Oman, at the age of 28. The Swedish DJ’s ex girlfriend Emily Goldberg has broken her silence about his tragic death and revealed a private text conversation she had with Avicii before his passing.
The pair dated for two years from 2011 until 2013. In a heartbreaking post on Instagram, Emily shared a screenshot of the exchange where she says “I love you Tim” and he replies “I love you Emily. I miss you baby, when’s your flight?”
Moreover, she shared a handful of personal pictures of them together and wrote: “For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend. Now I can’t look at Bear without knowing I’ll never see his face again.”
Avicii – real name Tim Bergling – was found dead on Friday (Apr. 20) in the capital of Oman at 28. He was there to visit friends and his death was confirmed by a spokeswoman, Diana Baron. No cause of death was immediately given but on the other hand the Omani police stated that there is “no criminal suspicion” or evidence of foul play in the musician’s death.
What we know is that Bergling had a serious problem with alcohol. In January 2012, he was hospitalized for 11 days in New York City with acute pancreatitis caused by excessive alcohol use. In 2014, Bergling underwent surgery and had both his appendix and gallbladder removed. And, on top of that, in 2016 Bergling’s health deteriorated and he subsequently retired from performing live.
