Berlin: David Bowie’s plaque stolen
On Saturday (Sept17) David Bowie’s memorial plaque has been stolen in Berlin just three weeks after its unveiling. The porcelain sign – which quoted the late musician’s lyrics from his hit ‘Heroes’: “We can be heroes, just for one day” – was unveiled by the city’s mayor at his former home from 1976 to 1978.
In that house, Bowie worked on the albums ‘Low’, ‘Heroes’, and ‘Lodger’, besides producing Iggy Pop’s ‘The Idiot’. A replacement plaque is expected to go up in days since the company that produced the plaque had multiple prints made in the event of damage or theft.
Local police officials are now investigating what they’re calling an act of vandalism, according to the German newspaper BZ . No suspects have been identified yet.
