Bobby Vee dies aged 73
Bobby Vee, the 1960s teenage idol who became famous with hits like “Take Good Care of My Baby” and “The Night Has a Thousand Eyes,” died on Monday (Oct.24) in Rogers, Minn at 73.
Vee reportedly died of advanced Alzheimer’s disease, according to his son Jeff Velline. The singer was diagnosed with the disease in 2011 even if he began having trouble remembering lyrics during performances in the 2000s. “It’s not getting any better, I can tell you that,” he said in a 2013 interview. “But I’m doing the best I can.”
He performed his final show that year. He was married to his wife Karen for more than 50 years. She passed away of kidney failure in 2015 at the age of 71. The couple had four children.
