Coldplay & R.E.M.’s Peter Buck honor Tom Petty with cover of “Free Fallin'”
Early on Monday (Oct.2), Tom Petty died following a cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu and left the music world in mourning as it lost one of its rock legends. Lots of musicians made their tributes to the artist, but one of the most moving was surely the one Coldplay took to the stage.
The band performed in Portland, Oregon, on Monday night and the show began with a minute’s silence to honor the victims of the mass shooting in Las Vegas. The entire arena was lit only by people’s phones and following the minute of silence, former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck joined the band for this wonderful rendition of Petty’s hit “Free Fallin’”.
