Demi Lovato announces career break after trashing Taylor Swift
Back in February, Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato were involved in a heated squabble: Lovato called Swift out for remaining silent on social media during Kesha’s Dr. Luke trial verdict, Swift instead donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with her legal costs. Swift commented in an interview, then Lovato responded in a new interview with America’s Glamour magazine.
Demi Lovato slammed the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker for “tearing Katy Perry down” while promoting her hit single ‘Bad Blood’, a song reportedly written about the pop divas’ infamous feud.
Inevitably, Taylor Swift fans promptly attacked Lovato on Twitter. “I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me,” the singer tweeted in response to them. “Also don’t forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews. Still not apologizing for saying what everyone want to say,” she added.
Now, Demi Lovato announced to her fans on Twitter that she is embarking on an extended hiatus. She wrote, “So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight.. I am not meant for this business and the media”.
Whether she comes back, Lovato hasn’t decided. “It doesn’t feel worth it anymore,” she tweeted to one user. “I’d rather do charity work tbh.” However she definitely seems to be serious about the hiatus since she later told a fan on Instagram that if she does a sixth album, it wouldn’t come out until 2018.
