Diane Warren wins an Emmy for Lady Gaga song “Til It Happens To You”

On Saturday night (Sep10) Diane Warren won the Emmy (Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics) for “Til It Happens to You“, recorded by Lady Gaga. The artists collaborated on the song from ‘The Hunting Crowd‘, a powerful documentary dealing with college rape in the USA.

The movie’s music supervision Bonnie Greenberg contacted Diane Warren who brought in Gaga for the job. Nile Rodgers also participated on the track.

The song beat out other contenders including ‘Settle For Me’ from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and ‘Frozen Lullaby’ from comedy series Garfunkel and Oates: Trying To Be Special.

“I get to say my Oscar speech,” Warren laughed while accepting her Emmy. She thanked Lady Gaga for “being brave enough to work on this with me, giving voice to those who are silent, who are afraid to speak.”

Backstage, Warren dedicated her win to famous publicist Ronni Chasen, who was shot and killed while driving home from the film premiere of ‘Burlesque’ in 2010.
