Drake donates $50,000 to homeless shelter
On Tuesday (Feb. 6) Drake was in Miami shooting a music video and decided to make a surprise stop at Lotus House, a homeless shelter for women and children. The Canadian singer brought a $50,000 check and toys and games for the kids.
The money will go directly toward funding Lotus House Shelter, which recently opened and holds 500 beds. Drake also passed out $150 Target gift cards for the female residents.
Drake’s charity spree has also included spending $50k on groceries for random Miami shoppers, a $50k donation check to one happy student at the University of Miami and $25k to a high school.
Lotus House President Constance Collins told TMZ the rapper’s donation will “nourish bodies, minds and spirits of homeless women and children who are among the most vulnerable in our community.”
On Instagram, Lotus House shared a picture of the star posing with a giant cheque, and wrote: “Part of the surprise from @champagnepapi included… With this donation, we are going to be able to serve so many meals. Did you know that $10 a day serves 3 meals at Lotus House?! This year- we will serve 500,000 meals in our new Lotus Village kitchen.”
