Elton John pays tribute to late mum during concert
Sir Elton John dedicated his hit known all over the world ‘Your Song’ to his late mum Sheila during a concert in Hamburg, Germany on Wednesday night (Dec. 6).
John announced on Monday (Dec. 4) that his mum Sheila Farebrother had passed away earlier that morning, and he paid tribute to her on stage. Before singing the song, the artist told to the crowd:
“I was thinking how I can pay tribute to her tonight and what song I should choose. Well this next song I wrote at her house or her apartment. I can remember every single minute of writing this song with Bernie (Taupin). So this is a song I want to dedicate to her. And it’s taken me from nowhere to somewhere. So thank you, mum.”
Elton and his mother were locked in a rift for nine years before reconciling earlier this year after he was in intensive care for two days. Mrs Farebrother passed away aged 92.
