Elton John’s mother has died, the singer ‘in shock’
Elton John has announced his mother Sheila Farebrother has died on Monday morning (Dec. 4th) by sharing on Instagram a picture of the pair smiling for the camera. The singer said this news left him “in shock”.
“So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning. I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock,” he wrote in the caption. “Travel safe Mum. Thank-you for everything. I will miss you so much. Love, Elton.”
The singer had not spoken to Mrs Farebrother for around nine years until May this year following rows over mutual friends and his husband David Furnish.
Sheila Farebrother, who had been a constant support to her son, encouraging him to play piano from the age of three, died aged 92 in West Sussex, where she lived. It is not known if he knew Mrs Farebrother was gravely ill.
