Former Das Racist member Kool A.D. accused of sexual assault
Former Das Racist rapper Kool A.D. has been accused of sexual assault by four women in a report by Pitchfork posted a few days ago.
The disturbing allegations, which reportedly took place between 2006-2015, include claims by his estranged wife, Saba Moeel, a former friend (Marta Martinez), former collaborator (Andie Flores) and an acquaintance referred to as “Senn” in the piece, who all related what they claimed were nonconsensual sexual encounters that Vazquez said he believed to be consensual at the time.
The rapper married Saba Moeel, a fashion designer and musician he had known since he was 15, in 2014. The couple have since separated, and she has accused him of sexually assaulting her. In December 2018, Moeel and the other three women spoke with Pitchfork about the singer sexually assaulting them between 2006 and 2015. He told Pitchfork that his memory of the incidents differed, but he did not want to deny the women their truths.
In a statement sent to Billboard, the rapper said, “It was never my intention to hurt anybody, but through ignorance, entitlement and ego, I now see that I have.” As for Moeel’s allegations, he added, “Despite everything, Saba is still the mother of my child so I am bound by my daughter’s blood to love her and care for her mental and physical health and safety. I have been working to better myself and will continue to do so, and similarly, I hope Saba finds the help she needs.”
