George Michael returns to Hot 100 with ‘Careless Whisper’ & ‘Faith’
After his death, occured on December 25th, George Michael succeeded to scale the Billboard Hot 100 with three of his 1980s classics.
“Careless Whisper” and “Faith“ re-enter the chart at Nos. 33 and 47, respectively, while 1984’s “Last Christmas” lifts 50-41.
As Billboard reports, “Whisper” (which topped the Hot 100 for three weeks in February-March 1985), returns after selling 53,000 downloads and drawing 7.7 million U.S. streams while “Faith” (which crowned the Hot 100 for four weeks in December 1987-January 1988) counts 4.2 million domestic streams.
The artist died at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, aged 53. He was found dead by his partner Fadi Fawaz on Christmas morning. No cause of death was immediately determined but his manager Michael Lippman conjectured that the singer passed away of heart failure.
