Jennifer Lopez gives $1 million to hurricane relief efforts
Four days ago Jennifer Lopez shared her heartbreaking appeal on Instagram, in which she revealed she hadn’t heard from her relatives in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria hence she was worried and wondered if they were still alive.
In the same video the singer urged fans to donate as much as they could for the cause. And she did it herself, since now we know that J.Lo has donated $1 million to the victims of the devastating hurricane in Puerto Rico.
It was on Sunday (Sept. 24), that the Shades of Blue star attended a press conference with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and announced the large donation: “Alex Rodriguez and I, who are both New Yorkers, are using all our resources and relationships in entertainment, sports and business to garner support for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean,” Lopez said in Spanish, then in English.
The singer said proceeds will come from her Las Vegas shows, and that she and ex-husband Marc Anthony will be working on “additional relief efforts” to help Mexico and the Carribean. Moreover, she revealed she still has not had any contact with her relatives on the island.
