John Mellencamp’s son Speck arrested
John Mellencamp’s 22-year old son Speck was arrested after a brotherly brawl in Bloomington. The boy was arrested in Indiana early Sunday after he and brother Hud, 23, reportedly got in a fight outside a Jimmy John’s restaurant.
Speck Mellencamp faces preliminary misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and resisting law enforcement. It seems that Speck had blood on his face and would not cooperate with authorities or provide information. In addition to this, Bloomington police report says the Speck – who is son of John Mellencamp and Elaine Irwin – continued to act “very belligerent and uncooperative,” cursing and trying to get away from officers.
His brother Hud told officers he was hit by an unknown man. He suffered scrapes on the left side of his neck and a small cut on his nose. Police say he told them he ran away at the sound of approaching sirens, leaving his younger brother behind as a group of men beat him up.
It’s not the first time the brothers are in trouble with authorities. In 2013 they resulted in felony charges after a fight and in that occasion, Hud received a one year suspended sentence with a year of probation and 50 hours of community service.
