Jorge Drexler announces tour in U.S. in 2018
Uruguayan musician Jorge Drexler will play a string of concerts in the United States early next year, opening with a Feb. 8 show at Miami’s Fillmore Miami Beach. The tour is meant to support the singer’s latest album “Salvavidas De Hielo”, released in September by Warner.
Drexler, who lives in Madrid, is currently on tour in South America, and is subsequently scheduled to perform throughout Spain.
Drexler’s music is a combination of Uruguayan traditional music (candombe, murga, milonga, tango), bossa nova, pop, jazz and electronic music, which results in very personal compositions with original arrangements. The words also play an important role in his songs.
He was married to singer-songwriter Ana Laan until 2005. At the moment, his girlfriend is Spanish actress Leonor Watling, who gave birth to their son Luca in January 2009 and to Lea, born in July 2011.
