Kendo Kaponi arrested in Puerto Rico
Reggaeton singer Kendo Kaponi – whose legal name is Jose Morales Rivera – has been arrested by federal agents in Puerto Rico on charges of armed burglary and assault in Florida.
Morales was arrested before dawn on Monday (Apr. 9) in the southern town of Coamo. The 33-year-old singer is accused of attacking a barber in Winter Haven, a city located southwest of Orlando. The alleged incident occurred on July 28, 2017.
According to the police department, that day Kendo Kaponi and another man attacked Jon Erik Baez-Molano, 30, outside Custom Kuts, 110 Central Ave. W., around 8:30 p.m.
At that point Morales reportedly started beating the barber with a metallic baton while his accomplice repeatedly punched him. Police say Baez-Molano had just left through the rear of the business and gotten into his vehicle when Morales allegedly pulled him out.
An attorney for the singer could not be immediately reached for comment.
