Lauren Jauregui drops debut solo single ‘Expectations’, listen here
Lauren Jauregui’s name has always been linked to the girl band she was a member of, the Fifth Harmony. As of 2016, Lauren has begun a solo career collaborating with artists such as Marian Hill, Halsey, Ty Dolla Sign and Steve Aoki. The singer is currently working on her debut solo album, anticipated today by her first single ‘Expectations.’
If “Expectations” dropped early Wednesday morning (Oct. 24), the singer said her debut solo album will “hopefully… maybe” be released in 2019.
“Wish I had no expectations/ I wish that I could get it through your head/ With no confrontation/ I really wish we could talk about it instead,” she sings over a slow-rolling R&B shuffle and spare beat.
However the song was not something new for many, since Jauregui first performed the track back in June 2018, as an opening act for Halsey’s Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour in Latin America.
In “Expectations” Jauregui describes a relationship in which her partner does not appear to care about her as much as she does about him. It also expresses the struggle of wanting to change the situation, but being unable to do so.
