Luis Fonsi joins Google to raise funds for small businesses in Puerto Rico
Luis Fonsi teamed up with Google to announce the Google.org spotlight campaign for Puerto Rico, Billboard reports. The Latin singer wants to provide practical support to the island, affected by the Hurricane Maria in September 2017.
Since this natural disaster raged through Puerto Rico, the revitalization in the archipelago among the Greater Antilles has been very slow and services still unreliable.
Google’s campaign, which initially generated $ 1.5 million for hurricane relief, is now relaunching, and this time the company will match up to $2 million for Puerto Rico, with emphasis on economic recovery of small and medium-sized businesses and tourism.
Luis Fonsi who is the first artist to join the campaign, made the official announcement on his social networks on Wednesday (June 14). He wrote “Join @Google and make a donation to support small Puerto Rican businesses, @Google will match your donations up to $ 2 million. Visit http://g.co/supportPR #PuertoRicoStrong #FuerzaPuertoRico”
Alongside the “Despacito” singer, Hamilton mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda will also pen a letter and serve as a spokesman.
