Miley Cyrus duets with Adam Sandler to honour Las Vegas victims
Miley Cyrus and Adam Sandler opened The Tonight Show Monday (Oct. 2nd) with a cover of Dido’s “No Freedom” in honor of the victims of the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. The shooting left 59 people dead and over 500 injured.
The Malibu hitmaker and the actor opened the show with their performance after a short introducion of host Jimmy Fallon: “This morning we woke up to the news of another senseless shooting – this time in Las Vegas” he said “In the face of tragedies and acts of terror, we need to remember that good still exists in this world. We’re here to entertain you tonight and that’s what we’re going to do.”
He then introduced Miley, who sang “No Freedom” with scheduled guest Adam, who played an acoustic guitar and sang backing vocals, joining the pop star to sing the song’s hopeful refrain, “No love without freedom/ No freedom without love.”
Cyrus later took to Twitter to share an image of their duet, and wrote in the caption, “No Love without Freedom …No Freedom without LOVE. Thank you so much to Adam Sandler for joining me tonight in remembering all those lost and singing lyrics that I believe are so important at this time …. #LandOfTheFree #StopTheViolence #GivePeaceAChance @fallontonight.”
