Muse: new album to drop in Autumn
Last Thursday (Feb.15), Muse released a new track called “Thought Contagion” from an upcoming album expected for release around autumn 2018 or early 2019.
During a recent interview on Matt Wilkinson’s Beats 1 show, the band discussed global politics, their Beatles tribute band, doing a film score, their favourite director, living in LA, wanting to live in Tokyo and more.
As regards “Thought Contagion”, frontman Matt Bellamy even mentioned the idea behind the meaning came from a book by Richard Dawkins which suggested that thoughts are contagious and spread like a virus.
On whether ‘Thought Contagion’ is pessimistic, Matt said “Dig Down was the last remnants of optimism and that’s all been spent now. I guess it’s a bit more of a fiery track. I didn’t really structure the lyrics too deeply I just spouted off whatever came out.”
As for the upcoming album, it will be “very different from the last album”, the singer said, adding “It’s definitely more experimental, there’s more weird synths and stuff that we’ve been messing around with.”
