Normani Kordei: ‘Going solo is scary’
Fifth Harmony singer Normani Kordei is speaking out about her budding solo career following the recent announcement that the group is going on hiatus, and admits to be anxious about it.
Normani has already debuted her own release Love Lies, a duet with R&B star Khalid, last month and although she is currently working on her debut solo album, the 21-year-old says the prospect of stepping out from the safety of the Fifth Harmony brand is a little daunting.
“It’s always kind of scary, especially because for the past six years, Fifth Harmony’s all we’ve ever known,” she told news show Entertainment Tonight. “So, every time we put something out individually, it’s like, ‘Oh shoot! All eyes are on me!'”
Previous member Camila Cabello left the group in December 2016, and has found success with hits like “Havana” and “Bad Things.”
Lauren Jauregui also opened about going solo in a recent interview with Playboy. The singer has already dabbled in the solo world collaborating with Halsey (“Strangers”), Steve Aoki (“All Night”), and boyfriend Ty Dolla $ign (“In Your Phone”).
The Fifth Harmony girls won’t be apart for long. Normani, Lauren, Ally Brooke Hernandez, and Dinah Jane Hansen have promised to honour the group’s few remaining tour dates, which were booked as part of their PSA Tour.
The band is due to perform in Hollywood, Florida on May 11, in San Juan, Puerto Rico on May 13, and in Reykjavik, Iceland on May 16.
