Overtones singer Timmy Matley dies at 36
The Overtones gave a really sad news on socials yesterday. The British five-piece vocal harmony group announced singer Timmy Matley has died on Monday (Apr. 9) after a two-year battle with skin cancer. The Irish singer was only 36.
“It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away,” the band wrote on Facebook, adding “We know this news will be as heartbreaking for you all as it is for us. We appreciate your love and support at this difficult time. Mike, Darren, Mark & Lachie x x.”
Matley was diagnosed with stage three malignant melanoma, a type of skin cancer, in 2016. He was planning to take part in a fundraising skydive next month to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, an organisation he said was very close to his heart.
The singer’s agent confirmed that he died in London and that “family and friends are devastated at the news”.
