Peter Kay cancels all upcoming dates ‘due to unforeseen family circumstances’
Peter Kay has cancelled his long-awaited upcoming tour along with all other scheduled live work commitments, due to unforeseen circumstances within his family. A statement read:
‘Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects. This unfortunately includes my upcoming stand-up tour, Dance For Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.’
This is how the statement ends: ‘My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first. I’ve always endeavoured to protect my family’s privacy from the media. I hope that the media and the public will continue to respect our privacy at this time. Once again I’m very sorry.’
Kay was due to host 109 nights from next April until March 2019 at cities including the likes of Glasgow, London, Dublin, Birmingham and Manchester. The surprise announcement shocked the 1.7million fans across Britain and Ireland who managed to get hold of tickets to see the 44-year-old comedian.
Tickets have been selling on resale websites for more than £2,000 with fans desperate to see the much-loved comedian’s first tour in eight years. Customers are advised to contact their ticket agents or original point of purchase with their order number for refund details.
