Rapper Nick Breed dead at 24
Baltimore rapper Nick Breed was fatally shot in his hometown at the age of 24. Breed – real name was Dominic Gantt – was rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after being shot at close range on Sunday Evening (Oct. 28) and he was pronounced dead soon after.
The artist’s songs all reflected the social conditions of his community. Besides holding the distinction of being a buzzing artist with “all-city” credentials, Nick Breed also occupied an important foothold with the younger residents of the Edmondson Village.
“That’s all he wanted to do,” his sister Ebony Palmer told the Sun. “He just wanted to bring it back to the city and help the city. He wanted kids to know that you can still be something.”
Breed’s death is one of 40 homicides in the city in the last month. The rapper’s most-recent release was a remix of Ella Mai’s “Boo’d Up.”
