Robbie Williams to receive BRITs Icon Award
Just like Sir Elton John and David Bowie before him, Robbie Williams will be honored next month with the BRITs Icon Award ahead of the 2017 BRIT Awards. Truthfully, the pop star is already the most-awarded BRITs winner in history, with 17 wins as a solo artist and as a member of Take That.
The Icon Award – presented to artists who have had a great influence and impact on the nation’s culture – is the highest accolade bestowed to celebrities. Williams becomes just the third recipient of the prestigious award, which was first given to Elton John in 2013 and then to the late David Bowie in 2016.
“The BRIT Awards are very special to me,” the singer says in a statement, “and I’m humbled to be receiving the 18th of my career next month.”
To celebrate the honor, Williams will play an intimate one-off show at London’s Troxy on Nov. 7. Tickets for this intimate concert will go on sale on Monday 10 October through his website and the Troxy box office. The show will then be televised on the free-to-air ITV network for a special 90-minute show to be aired in December.
