Singer Mickey Gilley injured in car accident
American country music singer Mickey Gilley and his son Michael were injured in a car accident on Wednesday (Jan. 3). The two survived a violent rollover crash on US-59 near Corrigan, Texas.
The 81-year-old singer has a fractured ankle and fractured right shoulder and will reschedule his next concert scheduled for Greeneville, Texas, on Jan. 6.
Gilley said to police that the air bags didn’t deploy and after the crash he and his son found themselves upside down in the median of the highway.
It was Gilley’s son to drive the Scion northbound on US-59 as they were making their way to his home in Branson, Missouri when another vehicle entered the intersection.
Gilley had some cuts to his head after the crash. His son also had some bumps and bruises from the crash. In a Facebook post Thursday (Jan. 4), Gilley said he’s “pretty good” but “having a hard time walking” because of a medical boot on his left leg.
