Snoop Dogg reaches #1 on Top Gospel Albums chart
Snoop Dogg’s new 32-track double-album ‘Snoop Dog Presents: Bible of Love’, flies in at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Gospel Albums chart (dated March 31) with 5,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending March 22, according to Nielsen Music.
That’s not all! Three tracks from Bible of Love have entered the Hot Gospel Songs Chart and the album also debuted at number 148 on the US Billboard 200.
The project – a gospel album released on March 16 – includes features by such gospel stalwarts as Erica Campbell, Marvin Sapp, Tye Tribbett and Charlie Wilson.
Bible of Love is Dogg’s sixteetnh studio album and serves as his debut gospel album much like Reincarnated (under different persona Snoop Lion) served as his debut reggae album. The rapper himself served as executive producer over the entirety of the project.
According to Snoop Dogg, he was introduced to gospel music by his late grandmother, Dorothy Tate. He said of the album: “I am blessed to have so many legendary friends join me on this journey. As the country is in one of its heaviest times and is so divided, I wanted to make an album that spreads love and unity around the world. That’s what I was taught, so that’s all I know. Real love.”
