    American country music artist and actress Lari White died Tuesday morning (Jan. 23). She was 52 years old, and had been diagnosed with advanced peritoneal cancer in September 2017. White is survived by her husband Chuck Cannon and their three children.
  • Jazz legend Hugh Masekela dies at 78

    The father of South African jazz, trumpeter and singer Hugh Masekela has died on Tuesday aged 78 from prostate cancer. South African President Jacob Zuma said Masekela's death was "an immeasurable loss to the music industry and to the country at large".
  • ‘Oh Happy Day’ singer Edwin Hawkins dies

    American singer Edwin Hawkins, the gospel choir leader who scored a huge hit with 'Oh Happy Day' in 1968, has died aged 74. He was being treated for pancreatic cancer but lost his battle. Hawkins is survived by his siblings Carol, Feddie, Daniel, and Lynette.
  • Singer France Gall dies aged 70

    France Gall, who achieved international fame when she won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965, has died in Paris on Sunday at 70. Gall's representative confirmed the news in a statement, saying the singer died after an infection complication caused by breast cancer.
  • Combat Jack reveals colon cancer diagnosis

    The hip-hop attorney-turned-podcast host Combat Jack, 48 years old, revealed he is battling colon cancer. He made the announcement via Twitter on Monday, saying he was rushed to the hospital and had to undergo “pretty severe surgery.”
  • Tragically Hip’s Gord Downie dies of cancer at 53

    Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie died at 53. His death was expected as he had battled an incurable form of brain cancer for almost two years. But despite his diagnosis, he continued to tour, produce new music and campaign for indigenous rights.
  • Soul singer Charles Bradley dies aged 68

    After a lengthly battle with cancer, Charles Bradley has died. The singer was diagnosed with stomach cancer last year, but later given the all clear following treatment. The disease was recently found to have spread to his liver and he died on Saturday.
  • Those Darlins singer Jessi Zazu dies from cancer at 28

    Jessi Zazu, the guitarist, singer and co-founder of Those Darlins died Tuesday following a lengthy and public battle with cervical cancer. Zazu was 28. Those Darlins released three albums throughout their career.
  • Hüsker Dü’s Grant Hart dies at 56 from cancer

    Grant Hart, drummer of influential punk band Husker Du, has died. This is as yet unconfirmed, but the news appears to be spreading via social media. He was 56 and had been battling cancer.
  • Jo Dee Messina announces cancer diagnosis and postpones tour dates

    Country singer Jo Dee Messina has cancer and in light of the diagnosis, has postponed all concerts following an October 7th engagement in Harrington, Delaware. Messina, 47, revealed the news on her official website.
