Twitter expands character limit on tweets: that’s what musicians say

Twitter has limited its users to 140 characters per tweet since its launch in 2006. Now 280-character tweets will be the standard in every language where Twitter is available save for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, where the 140-character limit will still apply.

The expanded character limit is part of plans to make the social media platform more accessible and appealing but musicians and celebrities don’t seem to appreciate. Many started to moan about the bigger-but-not-better Twitter and some others just spread out and tweeted 280 characters of nonsense.

Here’s just a few examples:

Iggy Azalea wrote “What the fuck is with all these long ass tweets,” in a first moment followed by “My pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic. my pussy is magic.”

Josh Groban wrote “We have all been masters of twitter until this day and it’s hilarious” adding a series of nonsense words. Harry Connick Jr then wrote “280 characters! now i can REALLY tell y’all how much i love doing the #HARRY show every day… it’s a chance for me to celebrate YOU… our world is scary right now – i hope my show brings you joy – and i hope it reminds you that love always wins… thanks for watching!”
