Willie Nelson violently ill, singer cancels shows
Recently Willie Nelson suffered breathing problems on stage and called off the concert after just one song. Well now the 84-year-old singer was forced to cancel several upcoming dates due to breathing issues.
It all began on Saturday (Jan. 6) when the star was performing at the Harrah’s Resort SoCal in San Diego: he was forced to abandon his set after playing opening track ‘Whiskey River’, as Nelson was coughing and apparently experiencing some difficulty breathing.
Nelson’s press representative has since confirmed that the country music legend has “a bad cold or the flu” and has returned home to Texas to recover.
He had been scheduled to play gigs in Palm Springs, Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada this week, but all the shows have now been cancelled. Ticketmaster promptly told fans it was going to refund the costs of tickets and fees.
The singer’s son Lukas Autry Nelson, 29, took to Twitter Tuesday (Jan. 9) to confirm the news that his father would be out of commission:
‘Apologies all, Dad has the flu so we cancelled this week’s gigs in Cali and Vegas,’ Lukas said. ‘If you have tickets, please contact the venue for a refund and we hope to see you on the road again soon.’
